Let’s share with others
You may have noticed “Share this” drop down menu in different spots on many of the pages in Flickr.
To share your photostream, click on the “Share This” button in the upper right hand corner.
To share your photostream, click on the “Share This” button in the upper right hand corner.
When you click this button, a pop up window will direct you to enter a screen name, real name, or email.
Enter which ever applies. You can send it to someone that does or does not have a Flickr account. The people that do not have a Flickr account can only look at your site and not interact with it.
Sharing your photostream will allow that person to see all of your public images on your site. If they are marked as friends or family, then they will be able to see images with the permission setting of public and friends & family. They can go through and view your galleries, sets, favorites and so on. The person you shared this with can not see the images and sets of images marked private (for you only).
You are also given the option to grab the link to the page. That URL can be pasted into most documents.

You can also share individual images. You can share your images and you can share other contributors’ images. You are given a few more options when you click on the Share This drop down menu on individual images.
You are given the same options as above and two more options. You can grab the HTML/BB code and you can blog on the image. Any thing you post as public, all Flickr members have the same option to share your images. If you do not want them shared then do not mark them as public.
I want to introduce another way of sharing and collaborating through Flickr. You can set up a group. Members have the right to contribute to the group pool; comment on all the images; make notes on all images; and edit all images. Even the images marked private will be accessible to group members. This is a very cool feature for educators. You and other contributors can upload your images as private (the public can not see them), and then add them to a group pool. The group will be able to see, comment, tag, add people, makes notes to the images. No one outside the group can even see them.
You can set up your group to be public, public by invitation or private. Read through all the rights given by each type of group.

I set the following example up as private. I send out invitations to join the group. To send an invitation, click on the Invite Friends button.
The next page will give you an option to invite a friend who is already a member of Flickr or invite a friend who is not a member of Flickr.
Inviting the Flickr member requires you to type in his/her screen name, real name, or email. The non-member invitation is sent to the person’s email. It will give the person instructions how to set up a Flickr account and join the group.
Please check out the Flickr site to read further on how to administer a group.
