The Navigational Tool Bar
The tool bar located at the top of the page will be your main form of navigation. Here is a brief description of each tool.
Home- This is the page up above. This page provides links to all your tools, contacts, Flickr Blog, updates, new features, and some advertisements. This is really a standard Home page to a social website.
You – This page presents all of your images (in photostream), sets, galleries, maps, and more. This page gives you easy access to all of the images you have uploaded. You can click on any of the images to edit properties and/or share. You can pull up your galleries or sets.

Organize and Create – This page allows you to edit images, add tags and descriptions, rearrange order, create sets and quickly drag the images into it, organize images for groups, and organize images to be printed locally or sent to a printing facility.
Contact page – This page gives you a quick reference to all the people you have added to your contact list. It will display their most recent uploads and sets. You will manage your contacts from this page. You can present invitations to join Flickr and find your friends. Like most social networking sites. Your contacts, friends, and family can grow as large as you want.
Group page – This page focuses on managing the groups that you have created or are a member of. Like all the other areas of Flickr, you can personalize and manage your groups by making them private (invitation only), family, friends, or public. You can participate in group discussions and notes. Depending on the group rules, you can invite friends into the group.
Explore – This is the page where you start to search for, browse through, and generally explore all the images publically posted on Flickr. You can start your search in several different ways. You can search most recent, interesting shots in the last 7 days, or popular tags. You could search the world map which leads you to geographical areas. Many people will geotag their photos. You can search for sets, galleries and more. Located at the top right of the page is the search box. You can search for people, photos and groups. You simply type in keywords.
Upload – This page prompts you through the uploading process. As a note, there are different ways of uploading images from phones, email and others. This tutorial will only discuss the uploading of images you have loaded into your computer. For further information on uploading to Flickr, look again in the Flickr tour at http://www.flickr.com/tour/#section=upload
This has been a brief overview of the features found in the navigational tool bar. The following sections will discuss how to perform tasks with some of the main features on Flickr. I feel these features will be very helpful to educators and students alike. We will look at uploading and describing images; organizing your images; creating galleries from found images; adding comments and notes to images, and sharing with others.
